Marjorie Hardwick Schramel, school director -
Miss Schramel’s professional career has spanned some 23 years starting in Dallas with Dallas Ballet under the direction of Flemming
Flindt of the Royal Danish Ballet. After Dallas, she danced with the American Ballet Theatre under the direction of Mikhail Baryshnikov and has danced as a principal dancer with Cincinnati Ballet, Miami City Ballet and Atlanta Ballet. She also enjoyed a second career as a musical theatre performer recreating the role of Cassandra and Victoria
in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “CATS” in Paris and Vienna. She has taught all over the world and is the associate artistic director of New Orleans Ballet Theatre, which she and her husband founded in June 2002.

A New Orleans native, Mr. Schramel began his training with Alexander Minz at NOCCA before leaving for New York to train at the School of American Ballet. He has danced as a principal dancer for Miami City Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and performed as Mistofeles in “CATS” in Paris and Vienna. He has been a guest artist in Seoul Korea, Moscow, East Berlin, and Tokyo. Mr. Schramel is the founder of the New Orleans Ballet Theatre and the artistic director. He has created many new works for the company and won numerous
awards for his choreography. Under Mr. Schramel’s direction, the company has presented many never before seen Balanchine works in New Orleans.
